1st Haircut!

Today we took Dakota for his 1st haircut.  We went to a special kids salon called "Bananas".  It's really cute.  Dakota was fine with the whole process as soon as we walked in...it was great!  Kevin and I both thought that this was going to be a train wreck...I am glad that we were both wrong.  The hairdresser was great.  He got to pick out the "chair" that he wanted to sit in, he picked the Fire truck over the Police car.  They have a TV set up at every station, and they put on whatever video the kids want to watch.  Dakota chose Dora.  He was really soooo good.  He wasn't really bothered by the hairdresser too much...but he was constantly moving to do something on the truck, like drive or ring the bell.  He was pointing to Dora, telling everyone what was going on.  He was looking around to make sure Daddy was there.  Again, the hairdresser was so good.  She just kept cutting away...she just moved with him, it was great!  She even touched him up with the clippers, and he didn't freak out.  At the end he got a lollipop, and he LOVED that.  Here are some of the pictures from the photo shoot...enjoy! My little Boy!

Dakota's new thing now is his Etch-a-sketch.  He brings it to us, asks us to write letters, numbers...and SHAPES!  He knows the following shapes; circle, square, star, rectangle, triangle, oval, octagon, & trapezoid (Kevin calls it a deltoid).  We draw them on the etch-a-sketch, he rattles them off like no big deal at all.  He also calls the shapes out whenever he sees them on his TV shows...it's crazy!  He also draws me pictures, tells me what they are.  I am loving it!  He definitely seems to be right handed so far....he grabs all writing utensils, eating utensils with his right hand.  He mostly throws with his right hand...although I am trying to have him use both.  He throws 100 times better with his right though.

When you ask Dakota his name, he points to himself, says, "my name Koda".  He sometimes gets "Dakota".  He then points to me, says "your name Mommy"!  Points to Kevin, "your name Daddy".  He even does it with the dogs.  He calls them by both their full names & short.  "Bodi" or "Bodes".  "Utah" or "Utes".  "Weenie" or "Weens".   I am hoping to have more pictures tomorrow from the weekend...so check back soon!
